raindrops decorate
my study window
new leaves grow
on the tree I watched
turn gold

Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin
early March
snow covers the ground
and it is cold
yet evergreen branches
on tall weathered trees sing
in light morning winds
and tell a different story
one month ends
another begins
evergreen branches
frame the night sky

Poems From Oostburg, Wisconsin
a few leaves
drift from the
birch tree
and reach the
last of the lilies
Trees and sky, tree from a window in a storm, Lake Michigan, steps in snow, shovels
Ellen Grace Olinger
one gold leaf
on the branch
remains
and it too will fall
from this lovely
birch tree
I also need times of rest
before I can be
green and gold
again
